An excerpt from the "Studies of Elves" written by Eluva Drast
On those to the west: Iron Elves
General Physical Appearance: Iron Elves aren't as easy to identify as what one might think based off the whole tales surrounding their warriors. As a matter of fact the only feature that these proud people do genuinely have is gray sclera of the eyes, although when born they are white until about 18 months. Their skins are not the color of metal, nor is any part of their body such, with skin typically ranging through shades of brown due to a life time of the desert and their hair is usually kept short, or in a warrior's braid and ranges through the usual colors of hair. Despite the strength usually associated with them, Iron Elves don't usually tend to be muscular, actually bearing slim builds as the average. In terms of height they usually stand between 5'6" and 6'3" with few outliers on either side. With any questions of appearance are settled it is time to begin looking at other aspects of their people.
Location: The Iron Elves make their home in a place know to humans as the Iron Citadel, which is a massive structure nearly 30 km extending in every direction in the expansive desert. The massive 10m walls have withstood and endured sieges and even a greater wyvern's assault. The walls are in fact, not made of iron. Instead the walls are made from a sentient ore called Heartstone, which even in the desert promotes life. Many attributes this to the source of their resilience while others say it's from the hardships they've endured. Whatever the truth may be, these proud people have endured many invasions.
Abilities: While generally stereotyping tends to lend to outlandish tales, their is some truth about the stories about the abilities of these elves. Within these truths lies also lay, so this section is here to put any speculation down. First off, while being remarkably strong, the Iron Elves don't have supernatural strength. They don't have access to the materials to create the heavy weapons and armor some tales speak of, but they can easily lift upwards of 500 lbs, and strike with about 300 lbs of force from a blunt weapon. The claims of immortality are completely false, their life spans are no longer than a normal elf's; however, they do heal from injuries suprisingly quickly. They heal from broken bones in a matter of days, and lacerations heal in a day or two leaving little to no scarring in the process.
Perhaps the only thing these elves are capable of that no wild stories have been spun of is their ability with spirit magic. They are physically incapable of casting destructive magic, and as such you'll never see magic used in combat by their people. The priests and priestess, in theory not in practice, are the only ones capable of binding souls to objects. When applied to a weapon
