They should not have tried to run, he was far faster if only for the sake of a longer stride.
The giant's heavy feet pounded the cracked cobble roads as his seven foot frame sprinted through the city streets. The bandits apparently thought that twenty was enough men to conquer Gurath the Executioner, who once killed thirty-four soldiers with his bare hands when he was a mere boy. The giant may have been an idiot academically, but he knew how to fight. Three streets and an alley ago the ruffians he now chased had learned that lesson the hard way. If Gurath were smarter he wouldn't have left the coin he gained from mercenary jobs hanging in a bag on his belt, over fifty half parts jangled everywhere he went, it was like bait to the scum of the earth. The half-giant still had not adapted to his new surroundings, and was rather bad at functioning within a city setting.
Five of the fools sprang on him as he had strode through the alley, going about his day. They underestimated his reach, and the length of the Crescent Cleaver, with one wide and fast swing two heads rolled from their shoulders. Gurath quickly pulled jabby where it was sheathed on his thigh, he head-butted one of the men and caved his skull in with the helmet he loved, he then turned and caught one by the shirt collar, pulling him close and stabbing him in the torso with Jabby seven times in rapid succession. Two groups had rushed into the alley then, seven from one end, eight from the other. Gurath buried Jabby in the last of the five men's upper chest and left it there, using the free hand he drew his other massive sword, and launched it horizontally at the group of seven men, they attempted to dive from it's path, but one man was cloven in half, and two more lay bleeding as it passed through them and clanged to the ground. The ones who could run from that group did, the other eight men pushed forward, trying to take Gurath from behind. A backhanded swing carved one man from shoulder to hip, blood erupted from his body and he died before he hit ground, the rest ran then, Gurath stopped to gather his weapons, but soon pursued.
Now here he was, following the seven people who thought it wise to attack him, through the middle district, running towards the higher class areas, Gurath thought nothing of it but they were trying to attract guards. They waved their arms in the air and screamed for mercy which angered the giant, and caused him power forwards, the Crescent Cleaver had cut down three before they even knew he was upon them.
"Halt!" He heard a man exclaim, as three figures clad in the armor of the Etirathian guard spread out in front of him, between himself and the four who survived, they held long spears in his direction, but they looked hesitant and shaky. "MOVE!" Gurath bellowed, his lack of tact apparent, the guards were afraid, and quickly glanced from him to the bloody men he had slain, rivers of their life fluid flowed lazily downhill between the titan's legs and around his monstrous iron shod feet. "You're coming with us." The center guard said while trying in vain to remain calm and force his tone to be steady. His voice wavered nearly as much as he did when Gurath took a large step forward. "Not one more step!" The man ordered him. "They attacked me," Gurath replied, "You should kill them." He finished, pointing to the thieves who were disappearing up the street, it was obvious that the guards did not believe a word he said, they tightened their formation, somehow emboldened by his words. 'You're going to follow us." The man told him as his companions attempted to flank him, Gurath reached for the Crescent Cleaver, they tensed and prepared to lunge.

Loretta said her goodbyes to Ariani as she stepped out the front door and thanked her for having her over for the wonderful meal. With everything going on in the Kingdom, she was worried for her friend and had nearly made it habitual to be invited over for tea. It wasn't late but if she didn't hurry back home soon who knows what could happen. She thought about what Willem had told her, how she could ask a guard to escort her home. Perhaps he may be stationed nearby? He did work most nightshifts, if she remembered correctly.
However, there was a ruckus going about nearby. As she turned about the street corner, she found the origin of the trouble. Her eyes widened at the scene and froze at what she should do. Three guards pointed their spears at.. Gurath? Oh dear.. and from what she could see, the roughed up men the guards were protecting took off without a moment’s notice and straight in her direction. Should she stop them? As she found some bearings she hoped they would at least answer her question but before she could say a word she was shoved to the side.
The yelp she made was loud enough for at least one guard to look back and see the men running off. They would need to track them down for official statements but first they needed to deal with the giant of a man who seemed to be even more agitated. That is until the woman's footfalls neared, her ragged breathing did not hinder her plea.
"Wait!"
"Miss, please stand back, it's dangerous for you!"
"Gurath stop!" Loretta had ignored the guard's warning and slipped past them only to stand in front of them with arms spread wide to block the guards and Gurath from each other.
"It's alright now.." she calmly spoke to sooth the tension. She continued as she looked up to Gurath and kept her tone soft. "I'm sure there is a misunderstanding here. So please tell me what happened?"

Wake had only jut stepped out of the sanctuary when he heard a commotion that shook the ground beneath him. As the rumbling in the ground continued Wake raced to the end of the alleyway. To the right he saw nothing, an empty expanse of street that led on through the district. To the left, however, more excitement seemed to be afoot. It took several seconds for Wake to recognize what he was seeing. Four men ran from a cross street, flashing before Wake's vision before he had time to register what the forms meant. Immediately after them charged a massive, helmeted man.
"Gurath?" Wake whispered as he set off after the giant.
The quaking of Gurath's steps ceased, and Wake picked up the pace, but the voices that drifted through the air told the fighter that he might already be too late to ask questions. What Gurath covered in a matter of seconds seemed to stretch on and on for Wake, and though he was moving at a quick clip it felt as though he were not moving fast enough. A woman's voice rang out, and the shouting seemed to die down to a murmur. Like the only four racer at a bull run the men Wake had seen earlier darted around a corner and towards him, dust billowing from their heels as they achieved a speed known only to animals frightened into flight.
Little did they know what they were running towards.
Wake reasoned with himself that the men needed to be stopped, whether for their own health or to find out what was happening at least. As each ran by him he delivered a debilitating blow, to the head, neck, face and chest, and brought the ragged men down before they could take another step. Distractedly he stood next to their prone pile and listened for Gurath or whomever else was with him, walking slowly to muffle his steps.
Again a woman's voice rang out, barely any more clear than the first time. It was enough that Wake ran once more, covering the final stretch of road between himself and where the dirty men had fled from in a matter of seconds. Gurath stood between Wake and several guards, each with their weapons ready. HE appeared angry, even from behind, and the was thick with tension that made Wake shiver.
Immediately Wake's gait changed, and he walked casually around the giant man, careful to point Gurath's blade away from him as he did so. To Wake's surprise another member of the standoff had been hidden by Gurath's hulking frame, and though Wake was intensely interested to find what kind of woman would so attach themselves to an enraged giant Wake knew that the guards posed a more immediate issue. He walked towards the nervous men with an easy smile, unaware of what the protective woman had said previously.
"Surely there isn't a problem with my friend here, is there?" he asked, spreading his hands wide in a gesture of peace.

He was ready to pounce, Gurath the executioner had just been assaulted, and the titan was furious.
Ever so slightly the Crescent Cleaver was pulled a few inches from its scabbard, the giant was prepared to take all of their heads with a wide arcing swing. Then he heard a familiar voice as an auburn haired beauty emerged from between two of the guards, she stood between him and the spear-wielding cowards. At the sight of her and the sound of her soothing words, Gurath grew visibly less tense, he was still prepared to kill all three of them, but he would do so around Loretta, so as to not harm a friend. She asked him what had happened, the hybrid did not know in detail, he only knew that twenty men with knives had attacked him in an alleyway, which seemed like a decent enough explanation of why he slaughtered eleven of them in the streets of the Middle District.
"They attacked me, I attacked them." He said simply, and glared at the Guards around him, "They didn't believe me." He nodded in the armored men's direction as he spoke, and began to tense again, his muscles rippled and readied themselves to exert the force of a beheading swing, the Giant drew his sword slowly but made no other moves.
The most peculiar thing occurred then, Wake Trekken stepped around him, and also put himself between the Giant and the Guards.
"There is a problem, this freak is a murderer, and we'll be taking him to answer for his crimes. Now step aside." The center Guard said boldly, his compatriots took a step forward. Gurath knew he could win if it came to a fight, but could he protect his mysteriously appearing friends? Deciding quickly, the halfbreed sheathed his weapon and lifted his companions, one in each arm, he then turned and ran, one under each arm as he sprinted down mainstreet.
"CLOSE THE GATE!"
They attempted to seal one of the many gates in the city walls that he rushed toward, but before they could lower the bar and surround him, the giant had kicked it open and rushed out into the wide street before him.

Loretta was glad to see that Gurath had visibly calmed. She wondered why someone in their right mind would attack him unless they had at least felt sure of their skill to face him on. However, if she recalled correctly, there was more than one and frankly rude men that had run off. Perhaps to bring more guards? It wouldn't do to be seen resisting but they were treating Gurath quite unfairly and- was that Wake?
"Surely there isn't a problem with my friend here, is there?"
Loretta had turned and to her pleasant surprise, spotted the clothed form of Wake. However, her attention snapped towards the center guard as he stepped forward.
"There is a problem, this freak is a murderer, and we'll be taking him to answer for his crimes. Now step aside." The two at his side brandished their spears and had also stepped forth. This was not the most favorable of situations to be in. She tried to think of something better than a plea to be heard but a massive arm had snaked its way about her waist causing for the frightened woman to shriek involuntarily.
You fool! Shouldn't have done that!
"CLOSE THE GATE!"
The trio of guards gave chase as one belted the order to block their escape- wait they're not criminals! Loretta rose her arms in habitual fashion to shield herself from the oncoming collision. However, Gurath simply kept going as he kicked it open. Den almighty what strength he had! Loretta attempted to look over her shoulder but the arm that held her was much too large in her vision to see anything beyond. What she couldn't see was that the guards had gotten into a squabble over a one that had nearly thrown his spear. They believed that Gurath had taken the woman hostage and dared not risk in harming her and instead opted for reinforcement.
A lone guard had run off as the rest save for those on gate duty, continued to chase after the trio throughout the Middle district. However Gurath's gait was far superior than the guards on foot and had outpaced them eventually. Loretta noticed the lack of heavy footfalls aside from Gurath's and struggled in his hold to effectively get his attention.
"Gurath, you can't keep running! They'll think you've taken me against my will! You need to.." Loretta tried to come up with something better that wouldn't incriminate her friend further but time was of the essence! "Find cover! And stay out of sight!"

Wake scowled at the guard as he called his friend a "freak," but had little time to hold the expression as Gurath picked him up bodily. While the giant ran Wake caught a closer look at the woman who had protected his friend. Despite being held in the giant's arms like a troublesome child Wake managed a grin and waved to Loretta. Then Gurath kicked open the Gate. Wake knew that his friend was not the brightest, but he had hoped he would realize what his actions appeared. Luckily, before Wake could even suck in the air to explain, Loretta attempted to calm the behemoth once more.
"Gurath, you can't keep running! They'll think you've taken me against my will! You need to..." Wake propped himself up on one elbow, or rather with his elbow in the crook of Gurath's. What would Loretta suggest?
"Find cover! And stay out of sight!"
That wasn't quite a solution, though Wake admired her protective instinct. Gurath, however, was simply too large to hide in the city for very long. He might have better luck in the forests, but even then he would probably be pursued like some common beast. No, they needed a more resolute solution.
"Gurath," Wake said calmly, certain that a voice of panic would only further aggravate the large man. "Take us to where you were attacked. We need to change the guards' minds, and we cannot do that while fleeing like criminals." Wake tapped his chin, still seemingly unperturbed by being held sideways in the running man's arms. "When we get there I want you to sit down, and hand me your weapons."
It was a gamble. Wake wasn't sure how the guards in Etirath were trained, but he was fairly certain that they would not be allowed to attack an unarmed man, no matter how large he was. That would buy, hopefully, enough time for him and Loretta to examine the area. At the very least he was certain that Gurath would agree more to clearing his name than hiding. Wake caught Loretta's eye and gave her a wink with a small grin. We will take care of this, no problem, it seemed to say.
