《BODY》
BUILD: Wiry and slim/slender figure.
EYES: Dark green, cold, and somewhat judgmental.
HAIR: Medium/long length, white, almost always tied back.
SKIN: lightish grey
SCARS: 2 inch long diagonal scar on right cheek
TATTOOS: None
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Amalica is rather short in stature and cold in her nature, her face often being stuck in a perpetual glare. She has kept in shape due to the nature of her work requiring one to have to keep moving to survive. Clothing wise she typically dresses in dark clothes which cover the majority of her body that are form fitting yet easy to move in. As a tradeoff her attire is not terribly well armored.
PERSONAL TRAITS
PERSONALITY: Amalica is, in some ways a very typical drow, with some exceptions. She dislikes interaction with other sentient beings, but not necessarily humans. She hates everyone equally. There are very few in this world she has ever “gotten along with” on a casual basis. Most if not all of them, prior to her coming to Etirath have long since passed, some by her own or someone else’s blade. In the city she grew up in one of the, a silver tongue was necessary to get by with all the backstabbing that went on in the aristocratic families.
She has a sense of honor beyond that of most drow, but is very willing to lie to, steal from, cheat, and kill to get done what she feels needs to be done. Though she still has a degree of a self-serving nature, she is not completely without compassion. It’s only worth killing someone if she’s getting paid, or if it is of some benefit to her. On rare occasions she has backed out of deals, and to this date has not willingly agreed to kill a child. The right person needs to pay her first. Very often she is found dancing on the line between good and evil, as moral implications of what she has done over the years slowly catch up to her.
SKILLS
《GENERAL SKILLS》
Silver tongue- In bad situations she has a way of knowing the right thing to say to get out, or at least get her opponent to let their guard down long enough to gouge out an eye.
Minimal sustenance- Going on assassination missions often involved laying in wait for extended periods of time. Days, maybe even weeks without the ability to gather large stores of food and water, thus learned to mental train herself mentally and physically to just get by on less than others.
Foraging- What little she does need she has learned to be able to get by on with minimal gathering, thus she has a wide knowledge of what is and isn’t edible both above ground and below in terms of plants, insects, and other small easy to catch life forms.
Night/Low Light Vision- Living in the under dark there is very little natural light. Is more so a racial trait than a skill. As a consequence, the broad daylight sun actually hurts her eyes a little bit.
《COMBAT STYLE》
Amalica does not take enemies head on. As an assassin, her motto is to get the kill with minimal damage to oneself. Best case scenario, she stealthily gets in where she needs to, exploits a big weakness in her enemy and gets out. However there are times when she is discovered and this is not always an option. Thus at best she will open up her bag of tricks to at best, skirmish with an enemy, long enough to decide whether to go for the kill, talk her way out of it, or high tail it out of there all together.
EQUIPMENT
《WEAPONS》
Steel Daggers- Five to be exact, two sheathed on left hip, one on right, two attached to outside of her quiver.
Small compound bow: A simple, small but powerful bow and arrow. Enough draw strength to pierce most leather/chain mail armor to a degree. Mid to short range peak effectiveness.
Quiver- To most this is just a place to store arrows. For Amalica it is an all-around combat/survival system. The main housing holds her arrows. On the back there are two sheaths attached for extra daggers. Another strap secures her small cast iron pan, and yet another grappling hook. To the left and right there are two tall and skinny detachable leather pouches. They house her assortment of bombs (listed below), vials of poison, and small scraps of dried food.
Bombs- She carries a wide variety of combustible weapons which alter the conditions of the battlefield in her favor when needed. Surprisingly, none contain any real raw explosive power. Below are the types she typically carries on her.
-Smoke Bombs: Explode in a plume of smoke when thrown. They are used to disorient enemy through clouding of vision and smoke inhalation.
-Flashers: As it sounds, small bomb filled with a faster burning combustible compound meant to put out a blinding light and deafening booming noise. The can however hurt Amalicas own eyes when not used carefully, and can draw people’s attention quickly. They were a go to weapon when below ground, as like herself, many under dark enemies were extra sensitive to this blinding light.
-Darkening Runes: Amalica discovered these out of necessity once coming to the surface, as there was no short supply of darkness below ground. A smoke bomb like weapon created though use of alchemical processes. It emits a plume of smoke like substance that eliminates all traces of light within its radius, but doesn’t affect respiratory system. They are a luxury weapon in a sense, as they are the only means for Amalica to confront an enemy head on. They require a difficult type of rune magic to create, thus she typically only carries one or two on her, and will primarily use as a last resort.
Small axe with pike end- Lightweight wooden handle, all the weight focused on the head of the weapon. It packs a surprising punch with swinging momentum as opposed to having brute physical strength. Pike end works well for piercing armor or aide in climbing walls.
《ARMOR》
Head: Hood/cowl. Covers head when up and hangs low enough to cover part of her face.
Neck: cloth that extends up from her shirt, can be lifted up to cover part of her face.
Breast/Torso: Slim fitting black long sleeve cloth shirt. Dark brown corset looking light leather vest over top
Arms: Leather gloves that go quarter way down triceps.
Waist: One belt/ houses her axe and grappling hook.
Legs: Slim fitting cloth pants, tight fitting black leather boots.
《EQUIPMENT:》
Small cast iron pan- For cooking when possible or boiling fresh drinking water, kept attached securely to quiver. On rare occasions can be used as improvised weapon.
Cloak- Used for further covering herself for variety of reasons including protection from weather or hiding her identity in public.
Grappling hook: A three pronged hook attached to a twelve foot, slim yet strong fifteen foot cord. Multiple uses for scaling walls, improvised weapon, or a trip wire with enough time to set up. Cord kept wrapped around her torso while hook is attached to quiver.
Flint striker- Used for creating sparks to start campfires, or lighting smoke bombs.
BACKGROUND
Randyn Nasak, it’s a vast underground city-state populated by the dark elves, or drow as they are better known. Politically it is run as an oligarchy. There is no true king or leader, rather aristocratic ruling families who have been underground for generations fight for power amidst the not so ignorant masses. The drow population is aware of what goes on, but are not necessarily subjugated. So that has amazingly not led to any sort of uprising, as supporting the right ruling family at the right place and time can lead to benefits even for commoners. They have however, suffered over time when the infighting among ruling families fighting grew too rampant to realize that the city was crumbling.
One child born amongst this cities populace was Amalica Taleth. Her biological father and mother identified by the names Nadale Vrinn and Triel Myvall, both children of mildly prominent families. The dynasties they haled from were nothing in comparison to the Taleth bloodline. The name Taleth held the top spot for many generations. They had fought off attacks from families such Vrinn and Myvall several times over, asserting their dominance, and getting what they wanted when they asked for it. One particular thing Micara Taleth, the current head of the household wanted was the Vrinn warrior Nadale to father her children. In an act of defiance however, Myvalls matriarch, Triel manipulated him into being intimate with her instead. They would pay dearly for this mistake when the pregnancy was discovered. Micara waited until shortly after the child was born in order to set an example. The two were kidnapped and brought to Micara, along with their child. She personally drove a dagger into both of their throats at the same time, and offered them as sacrifices to their goddess.
The child was another matter. She was indeed a symbol of lower noble’s defiance of her rule. Micara however saw an opportunity, and for the time being welcomed the child, whom she had learned was named Amalica into the Taleth family as an equal. What better assertion of dominance than to take the bloodline of another family forcefully and make it your own? Though drow children are not coddled by any standard, any chance at surviving adolescence Amalica had was slowly cut down over time. She was already pronounced a member of the family, so they didn’t want to just dispose of or make her a slave and have to answer questions as to why later on. Rather the path of an perilous path of an assassin was chosen for her. They lessened her inhibitions towards killing by having her cut down mildly defenseless creatures as soon as she could grip a dagger. They thought to trick her by throwing in large spiders and venomous serpents, or creatures with hidden retractable claws. Her opponents gradually grew in size, to the point where she couldn’t confront them head on, and had to resort to stealth and trickery to make it out alive.
When she did not perish from the above mentioned trials, she was set on her first assassination mission. She was sent to kill a member of her biological mother’s family, in order to further display the obsession with poetic justice of her current adoptive mother. No matter what happened, Micara would be ridden of a problem. It just so happened that Amalica actually had grown intelligent and crafty enough to survive. It did not hurt that with the previous matriarch being murdered in cold blood, the current organization was less prepared for such an enemy. Feigning weakness and letting herself get captured as a slave Amalica killed her target with a dagger she had snuck in. She stayed however, long enough to stealthily sneak around and discover a few things, such as the secret behind her birth.
Her upbringing had already made Amalica resentful naturally, however this was the revelation that pushed her over the edge. She was not so much vengeful over her parents deaths so much as being made a tool of vengeance. Keeping her discovery of this knowledge in secret, she carried on, eventually over time bringing about the death of many more, including members of her adoptive and biological parent’s dynasties, further proving that she cared little for family liniage at this rate. It was not until the age of eighteen that she felt confident enough to take the head of Micara.
Her conquest came one night when the ever paranoid woman invited Amalica to her personal chambers. The plan was to have guards Ambush Amlica under the pretext of another assignment to be given. Amalica had discovered the plot and poisoned the guards charged with the task prior. Taking her opportunity, she dispatched the slow and sluggish warriors, and soon after, her mother, in the same place where she was when her parents were killed. The resulting death of such a powerful matriarch created a power vacuum, and set Randyn Nasak into chaos. Rather than try to stay and compete with those now grabbing for power, she simply left it all behind, content that they were destroying one another in the wake of her actions.
She set her eyes to the above world, where she was certain her name had never been heard. It took some time to adjust and learn, but she soon came to be a sought after private assassin on the surface. Although she encountered something of an uncanny similarity motivations of those she worked for to those living below ground, it was in its own weird way comforting. She had an uncanny ability to spot out the lowest of the low, so to speak and fulfill their contracts. She has not stayed in any one village or kingdom for too much of an extended period of time, a year or so at most. Ever restless, Etirath comes as nothing more than her next abode for work Amalica.
