Drake had, rather foolishly, decided to sneak out of the safety of the walls in the dead of night. Strapped to his back was the axe he used for wood chopping on the farm, in case any wild beasts showed up to interrupt his practice session. He had read the book regarding force magic, and had decided he needed to test it out. Within a matter of minutes he reached the spot, a small clearing in some nearby forest, the axe fortunately hadn't been needed yet, " Okay time to get to work," he thought aloud as he faced one of the smaller trees. Drawing in a deep breath, he pulls back his left hand attempting to focus energy into the palm of his hand, exhaling with a "Hya!" sound. His efforts were of no avail, either he cast the spell wrong or completely missed his target as the bark was still intact on the tree. " One more time," he says as he begins the process anew. Each failure resulting in him saying," One more time, " again. Little did he care that his shouts could attract unwanted attention.

Darkness seemed to simply flow off the woman as she walked. In her hand, a branch of White Ash swayed gently as it was being carved by small flaming black fingers. Tattooed eyes glanced to and fro, looking for the source of the sounds she heard echoing throughout the forest. Someone was out there, yelling and casting very, very weak magic. It was almost painful to observe, her eyes picking up the magical discharges long before the actual aura of the one casting them. She stepped out from behind the trees, coming upon the young man without hesitation, speaking as she did, "You know, if you were trying to hide from something, you're doing a very bad job. What are you attacking?
Her eyes looked over to the tree, seeing the trees around one single pine impacted by magic in some way. It was pretty clear what he was aiming for, and he was not hitting it. Was this kid practicing, alone, in the dark, by himself? What idiot raised this- wait. Squinting, Alek looked directly in the kid's face, recognizing him from the class she taught a few weeks back. Strange, why would the sword boy be in the woods practicing magic? She did not allow her face to show recognition, only examination.

Drake almost leapt at the sound of another person's voice, especially recognizing the voice. " S...s.... Sorry Ms. Alek!" he blurted out, fear in his eyes from being caught practicing. With a few deep breaths he gained some sort of composure back. " I was practicing magic Illegally outside of the Academy, " while looking to the ground, " I'll gladly accept any punishment for my failed attempts." He did feel slightly fortunate that another human had found him and not a wolf or something of that nature, and slightly more so that he didn't hear her approach because he would have brandished the axe he technically stole from home.

Alek looked the boy up and down as he stuttered out an apology. She found the kid slightly amusing, though not enough to actually illicit an emotional response, unfortunately. Shaking her head, she commanded in her less than forgiving tone, "Stop groveling, I wouldn't 'report' you for something so simple and stupid. Why aren't you at the academy? A teacher there piss you off?" Alek was vaguely aware that the darkness hid her marks extremely well, she would be wise to not step out closer where she could be seen.
An idea occurred to her, if she attempted to send the boy home, he would likely want to know why she would not wish to accompany him back to the city, and if he asked why she was out here-? That would be bad. She would be forced to kill him, and she did not relish the idea of killing those whom she had a good grip over. Sighing, she continued before Drake would have a chance to respond, "You know what, it's none of my business, I don't care. How about this, you're a farm boy, aren't ya? You want something more out of this life? I'll make you a deal, I'll teach you a few things the academy can't, and you make me two promises. You promise to keep our meeting secret, and you promise to show up at my Pub sometime, deal?"

Drake felt cornered by the offer, if he didn't agree to Alex's terms he could easily get in trouble. On the other hand hiding the fact she also was outside the walls and needed a meeting at a pub with a 16 year old, with a pause that felt like months Drake looked up. " I agree to your terms," he said While grabbing the axe and walking away ," I'll make my way back to the gate separate as to avoid any unnecessary attention. "
