At last, my peace. I found it in her eyes.

Instructor Aloysius Poodle strode into the center of the combat ring, a long, thin blade held in his meaty hands. With a sneer strewn across his haphazardly stitched face, he glared at his student with his one good eye imbuing all the menace he could muster.
"I... am Instructor POODLE!" he bellowed, with a bark quite unlike the tiny dog the name implied. "If you think that name is FUNNY, or CUTE, then leave this arena and take your PANTIES WITH YOU!" It didn't matter that he had one pupil, the speech was always the same.
The hulk of a man held the tiny sword out, balanced smoothly in his palm.
"This is an epee. It is a form of fencing weapon. The only sharp part is the point, so don't go swinging around with the EDGE!" he slapped the metal shaft against his other hand, to prove its dullness. "Now, the most important part of fencing is posture. If you lose posture, you lose control, and you lose your bout. In the real world, that means you LOST YOUR LIFE."
The teacher shifted backwards, his left foot under his hip and perpendicular to his body, his right extended forward parallel. His body itself was at an angle, so his right side was facing the student. He rolled his shoulders over his hips, and pushed out his chest like a duck.
"Your entire body should be held in a straight line, AS SUCH. Do you UNDERSTAND?"

Nata internally rolled her eyes, as she had heard this same lecture hundreds of thousands of way too many times. It didn't matter that she had beaten her instructor in the last few duels, one hundred and seventy three to be exact. She still got the same lecture about losing your life every time.
Nata closed her eyes, and when she opened them again all emotion was gone. The dancing smile playing across her eyes, the small smirk beginning to form at the corners of her mouth, all gone. She was entirely focused on fencing.
"I am ready when you are, instructor." she said, shifting her weight and posturing as he had. Nata had come from a rich family of duelists, however she had never learned to duel herself. That is why she had searched for the best duelist this side of Dsana. Now he had little else to teach her, and he had said this would be their last session.
