It had been quite a while since Isengrim had put his sword to the test against another man. He had not expected to pick up a sword again, at least not so soon. He maintained himself at his home, late at knight, practicing swings and drills that he had perfected over countless years, but nothing quite compared to pitting steel against steel in a true sparring match. He had had to fight animals and beasts that threatened his crops, livestock, and personal safety before. He even had to fight of bandits, but it could not really be called practice when the inexperienced thieves could be dispatched with even his oaken rod.
After the recent murder of the Temple Guardian however, Isengrim felt the need to refresh his abilities. He knew no better place than in Etirath's own college of combat, where he himself had learned to swing a sword so very long ago. It was his first time stepping into the halls of the college since his return. Much had changed, this too was rebuild and expanded after the war. But he had little trouble finding his destination. He had scheduled a private sparring match with one of the instructors, and even brought his sword, freshly cleaned and sharpened, though he would likely enchant it so as to dull the edges. He would rather no accidents occur.
He walked to the center of the classroom, and waited for the instructor to arrive.

It was not often that Aleksandria gave private lessons, but today was an exception. One Isengrim who, apparently, possessed great sword skills if her subordinates were to be believed. His request to challenge himself against her blade would be a privilege indeed. Drowning out the fearfilled thoughts in the back of her mind, she stepped into the training room and greeted the man within. So long as she occupied herself with anything except that damn stone, she wouldn't remind herself of the murder.
Though, do not think she felt any remorse. However, she simply feared retribution should she be found out. Alek was not capable of remorse, or any moral feelings for that matter. Drawing her Flameberge, she spoke, "Alright, let's begin. Keeping in mind this is a practice match with live weapons, we won't be aiming for vitals like we would if we were using blunted swords. Disabling shots only." Pulling her sword up into a defensive position across her body, she waiting for Isengrim to make the first move. Her defensive position being as follows: feet apart, one behind the other with right foot in front, blade held at a seventy degree angle across the body, right hand over left with both on the pommel, prepared to counter-attack if need be.

Isengrim nodded a quick greeting when Aleksandria entered the room, however she did not spend much time in such pleasantries. The introductions were made when he scheduled the match, so all that was left was to proceed with the match. He had expected to dull the swords, but she immediately began with the live sword. He would trust that she was skilled enough not to kill him, and he knew he would have the restraint to avoid any killing shots, so perhaps it was not necessary.
He took a deep breath, and drew his sword, stepping into a defensive stance, similar to hers. His feet spread, right foot front, and knees bent, ready to spring or dodge, his sword was held across his body at a similar angle, opposing her own. He no longer seemed a harmless old hermit, a trained eye would notice the precision in the stance that could only performed by one with decades of experience. His eyes steady, and his breathing even, he examined his opponent as he began to slowly circle to her right. Maintaining his legs primed to dodge or counter should she initiate an attack. He calculated his movements, preparing for the opportune moment to strike should it present itself.

Watching Isengrim begin to circle her, Alek shifted slowly on her feet to follow him. Making sure to face himx the second he came within range, she struck. A light, prodding jab to his midsection. She did not reach out very far, just far enough that, should he try a counter attack, she'd be able to easily dodge it.
Because she had a longer blade, Alek was always aware of the extra reach she possessed and the capacity it held to off balance her. Therefore, she made sure to keep the jab short to make sure very little weight was being held away from her body.

Isengrim used the attack as an opportunity to get closer to her, trying to take away the advantage of range. He stepped forward and to the right of the sword as it moved towards him, making sure to keep his own sword in between the incoming flamberge and himself.

Alek, standing on the inside of her blade and turning to keep the flamberge between herself and Isengrim, pushed away with great force upon the warrior and his blade. She sought to off balance him while she simultaneously stepped back to put a bit more distance between them two.

(oops. almost forgot)
Isengrim stepped back, readjusted his stance, moving his right leg a bit farther back so as to brace against her push, he slid his sword up against hers, hoping to catch the blade with the guard of his own, which he would then follow up by quickly pulling it away and slicing at her forearm, in the same motion pulling his blade in front of him, so as to block any retaliation strikes with the flamberge.

Twisting to the right of her blade, Alek utilized her turn and her backstepped foot to push the other warrior's sword to the side as he pulled it down. The sword slipped down against her guard far away from her arms, sliding away but also putting the two at a distance where a counter attack was impossible. It was a simple movement, simply pushing his blade away. However, the man's attack likely would have worked if Alek had not already been stepping away, Isengrim was no normal opponent. She would be wise to not underestimate him.
Taking two more steps back, Alek pulled her flameberge up and held it horizontally just above her eyes. Her visage grim, she waited for the warrior to move towards her once more, prepared to defend herself.
